Tony Kellow struck again to give Exeter City victory over Halifax Town at The Shay before a very small crowd. Graham Weeks was included in the City side for his first full Legaue match.
There is no stopping the 24-year-old Cornishman and once again he was City's most dangerous player. Exeter had chances in the first half, but had to come from behind after Halifax had taken the lead after 54 minutes. There was some made the first aggressive move after the interval, when Richard Key saved Flavell's free-kick after John Hore had handled.
The home side went ahead from the penalty spot following a foul on Johnston by Weeks. Lawson took the spot kick to beat easily beat Key. Exeter equalised eleven minutes later when they were awarded a free-kick midway inside the Halifax half. Tony Morrin knocked the ball forward to Alan Beer, who hit a cross shot that Gennoe failed to hold, and as usual Kellow was on the spot, to net with the easiest of chances.
With the game having gone into injury time, City grabbed the points when Alan Beer scored the winner, leaving Halifax no time to do anything about it.
