BBC match report

Exeter fell to the bottom of League One as they slumped to a defeat at Bury.

Bury nearly scored after 45 seconds but Mike Jones fired wide from David Amoo's cross, although they were soon ahead thanks to Andy Bishop's bullet header.

The Shakers doubled their advantage when Jones' delivery cannoned off Matt Oakley and went into his own net.

Guillem Bauza's close-range header was blocked by Trevor Carson and Liam Sercombe shot wide as Exeter were left still hunting for their first away win.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Bury manager Richie Barker told BBC Radio Manchester:

"If I'm honest I think we've played better than that this season and lost.

"I couldn't really enjoy it as I thought if they got one they would have fancied themselves to get back in the game.

"I thought we were more clinical in front of goal and created slightly the better chances."

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon:

"We again today looked a very good team, but didn't look a winning team, and that's what professional football needs to be about, it needs to be about winning.

"We passed the ball around very well, but we then didn't turn that into a threat.

"We've got to stop complaining about referees, stop complaining about bad fortune, and we've got to be better."
