BBC match report –

Exeter edged to a narrow victory over Bury in an enthralling encounter.

Daniel Nardiello's penalty made it 2-0 after Jake Taylor was fouled by Efe Sodje in the area, but Bury pulled one back through David Amoo's low shot.

Richard Logan nodded in at the back post for 3-1, with Bury substitute Ashley Eastham setting up a nervy finish with his late strike.

Exeter City Manager Paul Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon:

"I was delighted with the way the team started. They executed everything I asked them to do.

"The team moved with intensity and purpose, and we got some rewards for it.

"Today they were together, they played with simplicity and eagerness and with a purpose.

"The second half showed where we haven't got our full confidence back yet, you have to earn it."

Bury manager Richie Barker told BBC Radio Manchester:

"We were the better team for 75% of the game but when you're two down after eight minutes you aren't half in an uphill battle.

"I would say a slight lack of concentration by one or two and when they cross that white line they have to be prepared from 3 o'clock.

"Certainly we need to look at why we have to go behind before we start playing.

"I thought the referee didn't have the best of games but I'm pretty sure he made the right decision there (the penalty)."

Bridgwater 0-7 Exeter City Reseves

Exeter City side recorded a convincing friendly victory over Bridgwater, reports Matt Hines.

A squad filled with Under 18 players, who last week secured an away tie with Millwall in the Youth Alliance Area Final, managed to put seven goals past Bridgwater Town.

Elliot Frear opened the scoring early on, slotting past the keeper after a through ball from Callum McNish. Jacob Cane added two goals, the first a header from a corner and the second arriving after some quick reactions in the box to finish after the Bridgwater keeper parried.

Jimmy Keohane was next to score. He successfully rounded the keeper after getting on the end of Steven Carvell's pass.

City did not stop there, with Carvell himself making it five after his earlier assist. He managed to round the keeper after being slipped in by Jamie Reid, who, after setting up Carvell went on to score himself with a close range volley through a crowd of players.

The rout was completed by another under 18 starlet, Jake Gosling, who dribbled through the defence and fired a powerful shot past the keeper.

Exeter never looked like losing against Bridgwater, and had a clear dominance over their opponents from start to finish.
