MK Dons strengthened their grip on a play-off position with an easy win against struggling Exeter.

Defender Mathias Doumbe opened the scoring with a deflected long-range shot before Charlie MacDonald doubled the lead from Alan Smith's cross.

Jamie Cureton and John O'Flynn went close for Exeter before sub Jabo Ibehre raced clear to complete a routine win.

UNDER 18S VICTORIOUS AT YEOVIL

A strong, professional performance from Exeter City's Under 18s saw them come out 4-2 winners against Yeovil Town on Saturday, writes Matt Hines.

This rearranged game was all but won in the first half, as City took a four goal lead into the break.

The first goal came from Steven Carvell, as he fired past the keeper after being put through by Jordan Moore-Taylor. Moore-Taylor claimed another assist just moments later after a good passage of play led to him whipping a cross into the box for Jacob Cane to head home.

The Grecians' third was slightly more direct, as a clearance from Jake Viney in the Exeter goal fell to Jamie Reid, who found himself clean through on goal and was able to finish with a lob over the keeper. The game was as good as won within half an hour as Jake Gosling was the beneficiary of Carvell beating his man on the right wing and pulling the ball back for a simple finish, to make it four for City.

If the first half was Exeter's, the second belonged to Yeovil. They managed to pull two goals back early on in the half in an attempt to set up what would have been a stunning comeback.

Exeter remained professional however and succeeded in thwarting the Yeovil attack and kept the scoreline at 4-2.

They now sit in fourth place in the table.
