Cook lobbed Pidgeley to restore the hosts' advantage and Liam Noble finished off a passing move for 3-1.
Exeter's Daniel Nardiello hit the bar with a penalty after Adam Collin fouled Alan Gow before Zoko sealed the victory with a low shot after a fine dribble.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott told BBC Radio Cumbria:
"Whatever else happens in the country in our league, we had to perform for our fans.
"We've won the game 4-1 and everybody's got to be reasonably pleased with the way our season's gone, certainly the home form.
"I think that's one defeat in 18 games and it's an admirable effort from our players to do that.
"We can only do what we've done today and that's win the game. You have to give great credit to the players, they've worked exceptionally hard all season and there might be just one more twist in there somewhere, lets hope."
Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon:
"We've had a while to prepare for the likelihood of relegation, but I'm really pleased with the way we've played over the last month.
"We still kept going to the last and the way we played today, it could've easily been a different story.
"I'm a realist and I know it's a starting again process and we've got a building process to do over the next couple of months, ready for next season.
"I thought we would do better this year, I would look back across the last 12 months and look at the decisions I made and question those decisions."
