BBC match report –
Exeter made it five home games without a win after they only managed to draw with Tranmere.
A slip from City goalkeeper Ben Hamer allowed Zoumana Bakayogo to curl into an empty net to put Rovers ahead.
Liam Sercombe tapped in the equaliser for the Grecians after Ryan Harley had seen his fine run and shot blocked by Tony Warner.
The home side had the better of the chances to steal a winner, but the visitors held on for a point.
Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon:
"We earned a draw today but it was a victory for football today the way that we played.
"It just shows how far we've come really and I'm just very proud of the team and the nerve that they've showed.
"We're trying to improve the side and progress and develop and you've got to push yourself and take chances to make the step."
Tranmere manager Les Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside:
"They are one of the best footballing sides in this division and you really have to work hard and our lads did that.
"I thought we were the better side in the first half and winning 1-0 you hope to go on and win the game, so it's a little disappointing that we didn't.
"We created a number of chances in the second half on the break and we didn't test their goalkeeper."
