BBC match report –

Sheffield Wednesday's miserable season ended with a home defeat as Exeter came back from a goal behind to win.

The Owls, tipped as title challengers at the start of the campaign, went ahead when Jermaine Johnson beat two players and blasted home from 20 yards.

But Exeter equalised through Daniel Nardiello's low, angled shot after he collected the ball from James Dunne.

The visitors grabbed a late winner as Troy Archibald-Henville scored a fine solo goal after Darren Potter's error.

Wednesday finish the season 15th, seven positions below Exeter.

POST-MATCH REACTION

Sheffield Wednesday boss Gary Megson told BBC Radio Sheffield:

The first 20 minutes was certainly as good as we've played in the last couple of months. We created a lot of chances and scored a great goal. But then the second half was poor.

We've spoken to a lot of players and these things take a lot of time but most importantly they have to be right for Wednesday.

We've got a few irons in the fire that we would like to get done as quickly as we can but it's not something we're in charge of.

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon:

"I'm very proud of the team, very proud to be manager of a terrific club and with all that it's just tinged with a little bit of disappointment that we've not finished seventh.

"It's been a great year and we've had to overcome numerous issues, most notably the passing of Adam Stansfield and we've come through it and we've done things in a very respectful way.

"This club is different. It is totally different and part of it is being serious, you don't lose that seriousness, but you have to enjoy every minute you get."
