John Lee, born in Morpeth and signing from Clapton Orient in 1913, made just six Southern League appearances for Exeter City during his solitary season with the club. 

John had played for Morpeth before signing for Clapton Orient where he scored once in 20 Football League matches. 

Signed by Exeter City for the start of the 1913/14 season, John went straight into the first-team to make his debut against Southampton at The Dell on 6 September 1913. Appearing in six of the opening seven matches, and scoring at Watford, he didn't feature again in the first-team.

John served in the First World War as a Private.
