Two goals in six second-half minutes kept Exeter's promotion push on course.

There was little between the teams in the first half, Tony James off target with a header for the visitors.

The introduction of substitute Steve Flack helped Exeter get on top and go ahead with Jamie Mackie clinical with his right foot on the hour mark.

Hereford were unlucky not to level when Alex Jeannin forced a fine save from Paul Jones, but Exeter made sure when Jon Challinor fired home their second.
