Lee Phillips' strike was enough to see Exeter's promotion push gather momentum with victory over Gravesend.

The visitors had the first real chance when Andrew Drury fired in but that scare shook Exeter from their stupor.

Phillips, Dan Woodards, Craig Farrell and Jon Challinor all peppered Gravesend's goal before the break.

Charlie MacDonald went close for Gravesend after the break but it was Exeter who sealed the points as Phillips fired in a low shot.
