Match Report
EXETER MISS BIG CHANCE.
On their first visit to Edgeley Park for 8 seasons Exeter lived to regret an early miss that denied them a positive step towards only their second Fourth Division away win of the season. The golden opportunity came in the 5th minute when a cunning chip from Steve Neville surprised Stockport goalkeeper, Mick Salmon floundering out of postion.
JOHN KERR celebrated his 25th birthday for Stockport with the only goal in their home win over Jim ley's Exeter. The former Bury manager got no joy on his return to the North West. and his side were a disappointment .
On loan Phil Malley, from Burnley, and Paul O'Berg from Wimbledon, had the chance to settle into a new-look County side. Malley impressed with his eye for attack, while O'Berg worked hard alongside Kerr.
Steve Sherlock was back for County after a niggling knee injury, and he found the pace a problem in the closing stages.
"I thought we were easily the better side and good value for the points," said manager Eric Webster, who has lost key strikers Osborn Williams to Port Vale and Steve Taylor to Rochdale in the past month.
