Exeter City who scored twice in the opening five minutes last week vere on the receiving end themselves this week, when they were beaten by promotion chasing Oldham Athletic who scored twice in 10 BinutesThe visitors were quicker and more methodical throughout and when Exeter did have their odd chances, they were not sharp enough in front of goal to take thes, Former Torquay United forward Jim Fryatt put Oldham into a 5 second lead, volleying a tremendous shot past Bob Wilson, There was a further shock for Exeter in the 10th minute when Cranston increased the Oldham tally. City badly needed to pull a goal back before half time but it was Oldham who looked the more dangerous side. Exeter pressed more in the second half, but with time running out they still had a great deal to do if they were to salvage anything from a strong and well organised Oldham side. A number of City supporters thought that an Oldham Victory was inevitable as they began leaving the ground 10 minutes before the end, Graham Parker almost headed into his own net near the end,

BREWER OFFERS CASH FOR NEW CLUBHOUSE.

Exeter City's hopes of building a supporters club costing in th region of £10,000 appear to be, increasing virtually every day. City director Walter Rice said he was confident that there will be a Clubhouse within the next yearRice first outlined the plan at the club's annual meeting in December Since then more investigations have taken place. In fact there are two alternative sites for the clubhouse. One, on the practice pitch behind the Big Bank, with acess from the back of the main stand, past the supporters club hut. Two, a possibility of building the clubhouse under the main stand, which would entail gutting a number of offices and replacing them elsewhereThis week an architect looked at this second possibility but the area behind the Big Bank remain the favourite idea, A number of national brewers have been approached, three have made firm offers at this stage, One is prepared to give City a £1,500 untaxed loan gift, and are willing to negotaite a loan for the reamining money required at nominal interest, The other two are just offering an outright loan varying between £7,500 and £10,000, Exeter City want to have some ownership of the clubhouse which would be designed by the brewersCity would have to sell their beer and spirits which would be at free house prices. They envisage employing a full time steward for the club which would be open every night, and possibly at lunch times as well, This afternoon's Fourth Division fixture at St JamesPark between Exeter City and Northampton Town was postponed because of a frozen pitch,
