Exeter City still have plenty of problems. They struggled against Newport County with the worst record in the Football League, before coming from behind to force a draw, For Newport it was only their fourth point in 25 league matches this season, and for a time it seemed as though Exeter were going to be Newport's first victims since last April.

Newport took a surprise lead in the 52nd minute when Jones pounced on a back pass to touch the ball into the net. They lost left winger Hooper shortly after as he was taken to hospital with a suspected broken collar bone, City were struggling and heading for an humiliating defeat, Then with 15 minute to go Exeter sent on Barry Rowan to replace John Giles, and this seemed to have the desired effect. City began to show more determination and with just nine minutes remaining, they equalised, The ball was played through from midfield to Fred Binney who hit a long shot past Macey. Exeter's embarrasment was saved but it could have been so different had they taken their first half chances, Newport were extremely pleased with their point, but City must have been extremely disappointed with their display.

FRIDAY 15th JANUARY 1971.

AFTER FIVE MONTHS AND STILL ACTING.

Within 24 hours of Les Kerslake resigning as chairman of Exeter City, the club's vice chairman Fred Dart became acting chairman. That was on the night of 3rd August 1970, Today, over five months later, Dart is still there as acting chairman, In other words Exeter City have no official chairman, This is wrong, unsatisfactory, and abad state of affairs, How can a Limited Company, a professional Football Club, operate professionally without an official chairman? It is about time that the four man board of directors sat down at a meeting and elected a chairman, The policy of continuing with an acting chairman is wrong. Every club should have a chairman and that includes Exeter City,

CITY'S SUPPORTERS INTEREST IS DRAWING AWAY.

Judging by the fact that no moeny has been spent on new players at St James' Park one can only assume that the club's financial position is pretty grim at the moment. The board of directors must be strengthened, possibly by adding at least another two man to put additional money into the club. The team needs strengthening and it will cost money, Supporters Interest in Exeter City is draining. They have been patient and taking everything into account, the club's gates are good. One wonders how much longer the patience of some supporters will last? They are surely owed at least one new player Money is not the only thing short in the boardroom, There is a shortage of information for the public to read. If it was not for manager John Newman, and to a lesser extent, secreatry Ian Tarr, the club would receive little or no publicity. Do the directors think they can survive without publicity ? If they do, then they must think again and quickly

SCOTTISH CONNECTION.

Commercial manager John Hillier has announced that amatuer club, Uphall Saints F.C. in West Lothian, Scotland, are selling 600 tickets a week in Exeter City's Golden Bonanza competition. And it is possible that other Scottish amatuer clubs may do likewise as a result of this connection.
