Exeter City's win at grimsby was no fluke, but justice, The City well deserved their two points. They played some good football, created chances, and came from behind away from home. City should have won more convincingly for they missed some opportunities before Graham Parker smacked in the 80th minute winner, his first goal for the club,

Exeter were more competitive than they have been for a while and although chances were onto win by a bigger margin, they certainly never looked like losing, Grimsby wre a poor side and never looked like adding to their early goal, Bob Wilson was twice called into action but he was not really troubled throughout the game, Lewis had put Grimsby ahead in the 11th minute, receiving a pass from the player John Newman would like at St James' Park, Stuart Brace, Fred Binney who had his best game for some time set up the City equaliser, he pushed the ball to Joe Gadston who shot low into the net from 16 yards, Then the winner from Parker was the result of a deep cross from Jimmy Blain.
