Exeter City literally limped out of Dean Court, Four players, Jimmy Blain, Brian Sharples, Graham Parker, and John Wingate were injured, Blain was carried off on a stretcher after only 18 minutes with a knee injury, Bournemouth were a well drilled and aggresive side, Exeter although producing some neat approach football were not direct enough or pentrative enough up front, Although it must be said that City worked and fought hard,. Bournemouth took a 28th minute lead following an error by Sharples, McDougall the Football League's leading goalscorer, made no mistake from close range, They increased their lead 8 minutes into the second half, Sainty hammering home a shot from a Scott cross. A minute later Exeter were back in the game, follwing a Alan Banks, John Mitten move, Joe Gadston gratefully accepted the scoring chance. The City were now giving Bournemouth something to think about in this period and they looked liekly to score again, It was the home team though that added to their tally when a macDougall shot hit the post and Boyer following up was brought down by Barry Rowan, MacDougall netted from the resultant penalty. In the 75th minute Hartley netted a fourth goal.

CITY MATCH IS OFF WORKINGTON'S WASTED TRIP.

Exeter City's match against Workington this afternoon was called off at 11am, because of a waterlogged pitch. This followed an inspection by referee Mr Jim Finn, the heavy overnight rain had made conditions impossible. The referee was joined in his inspection by City manager John Newman, and Workington boss Brian Doyle, himself a former City player, and Exeter groundsman Sonny Clark. Newman said  that the postponement would cost Exeter City at least £150 in expenses.

CITY PRUNING DOWN TO ROCK BOTTOM.

Exeter City started their financial year on 1st June £15,350 worse off than the previous season, So far this season they have spent £47,500 in costs to run the club, Their wage bill at St James' Park is nearly £800 per week. These facts are contained in some figures produced by the club this week, The club has listed some of their expenditure from 1st June 1970 until 27th January 1971. This includes - Wages £26,000, Transfer fees £3,250, Home matches £1,185 Hotel and travelling £2,147, Rates, Insurance and lighting £1,361, Bank Charges £1,600, Players Houses £1,161, Mortgage Loan Interest £690, Training Expenses, Gate Officials and Police £2,500, Maintenance of ground £1,200, Depreciation £1,000. The club say that it is an immense cost to run a club out on a limb in the Westcountry and there is no way to reduce the £47,500 spent so far this season. The only remedy must be greater income as the amounts that can be saved by economies are comparatively small in relation to the indebtedness, Match receipts at the moment are down by £1,230 and away receipts by £1,270 but at the same stage last season City had played seven more games, 38 as against 31. Last year's Plymouth Argyle other income, everything run by the club in which the supporters club is integrated was £40,980, if City had a similar income, they would be a flourishing club, Last years fund raising totalled £8,687 made up as follows Red and White Club £3,452 175s 3d Sportsmans Group Bingo £2,647 29s 9d, City fund armchair bingo £1,100, Exeter City Supporters Club £1,250, The Grecians £700, less cash at bank and wages £463.

MOLYNEUX JOINS CITY ON LOAN.

Fred Molyneux, Plymouth Argyle's transfer listed centre half, has joined Exeter City on a month's loan. The deal was completed at midnight at Home Park following Argyle's home match with Barnsley, Molyneux cost Argyle £7,500 from Southport in 1968 has made 18 first team appearances this season, Arrangements were being made to take the players registration forms to Exeter by City director Gerald Vallance, and then for one of his drivers to take the forms overnight to the Football League offices at Lytham St Annes to beat the 48 hour deadline, so that Molyneux can make his debut for City at York on Saturday, Molyneux 26, is 5'11", and weighs just over 12 stoneHe began his career with Liverpool before being transferred to Southport. He was a regular in their side, helping them win promotion from the Fourth Division. It is doubtful whether the signing will be made permanent with Exeter as both the player and his wife want to return to Lancashire, His name was linked with Tranmere Rovers for quite a time after being transfer listed by Plymouth,
