Exeter City's two top scorers Joe Gadston and Alan Banks were on target again when they scored the goals in Exeter's draw at Aldershot, but the home side were down to 10 men after 31 minutes when Walker was sent off, The pitch was extremely wet and sand was spread in the centre circle. It was raining heavily at the start to make conditions difficult for the two sets of players, City went ahead in the 7th minute, Campbell Crawford centred for Joe Gadston to head past Dixon, This was the first time that Exeter had scored at Aldershot for seven seasons, Aldershot began to have more of the play but suffered a blow in the 31st minute when Walker was sent off, apparently for arguing. Two minutes later Brodie scored an equaliser following a cross from Brown,

Early in the second half Exeter were struggling and could not get into the game, The City defence was being forced into errors and in the 66th minute, Giles headed a cross from Brown, Eleven minutes later Exeter equalised, Binney squaring the ball to Banks who made no mistake with his opportunity. City almost snatched the points, when with 9 minutes remaining, Barry Rowan hit the bar.
