Barry Rowan (photo) teased and tantilised trouble torn Peterborough United to pave the way for Exeter City's impressive triumph, Rowan was in brilliant form, sending over a string of crosses three of which led to goals, But it was former City player Dave Pleat who put Peterborough nito an early lead after a fine run that took him past Campbell Crawford, The lead lasted only two minutes, Rowan's cross caused confusion in the home penalty area and Jimmy Giles whipped in a low shot, In the 39th minute Rowan's free kick found Joe Gadston who fired into the roof of the net, Not unnaturally City packed men around their goal as Posh moved forward in an all out attack after the interval, Giles was dominating in the air and twice when Peterborough did get through, Bob Wilson defied the forwards by racing off his line, Totally committed, Peterborough left their own goal exposed and Rowan going clear caught the defence square and provided a pass that Alan Banks had little difficulty in netting to make the points safe with just nine minutes left.
