BOURNEMOUTH 0. Davies, Gulliver, Stocks; D. Jones, Powell, K. Miller; Sainty, MacDougall, Boyer, Benson, Holland.

Attendance 7,918,

The biggest crowd of the season at St James Park saw Exeter City and Bournemouth locked in a goalless battle. It was a hard tough affair with City having more of the game, Exeter went close on more than one occasion and had a shot from Alan Banks gone in instead of hitting the bar in the opening 30 seconds, they might well have gained both points. Bournemouth took 30 minutes to put in a direct shot which Bob Wilson easily dealt with, The visitors began to move forward but Jimmy Giles and Mike Balson in particular were doing well at the back, City forced successive corners just before half time but they came to nothning, City ended the half on top but were not making any impression.

At the start of the second half a tremendous 18 yard shot on the turn by Joe Badston was brilliantly saved by Davies. Neither side could get the vital breakthrough although MacDougall was a constant menace to City's defence. He forced Vilson into a full length save on one occasion, Bournemouth were happy with a point which kept them in second place in the Fourth Division.
