Exeter miss chances

CRAWLEY striker Phil Blaber missed a fine chance right on half time when he ran on to a Whitington free kick but blasted wide with only the Exeter 'keeper to beat.

Both sides had scoring chances but Exeter were thwarted by Crawley keeper Maggs. At 26 minutes. both Banks and striker Binney saw shots saved. Frost of Crawley and Parker of Exeter clashed after 42 minutes and referee Nippard of Bournemouth booked both of them.

Half time:
Crawley 0-0 Exeter.

Colin Blaber was feeling pretty sorry for himself yesterday-after missing a chance that could have given Southern League Crawley victory over Fourth Division Exeter. Said Blaber: "I should really have waited for the ball to drop lower, but I thought, this is it death or glory, and let fiy. They had to collect the ball from the car park!

Crawley manager Stan Markham was not too despondent." We'll give them a damn good run in the replay," he said.
