Stacey is booked

Exeter went into a surprise early lead at Darlington wheu full back Steve Stacey hit a good cross to far post where Tony Morrin prodded the ball home with the Darlington goalkeeper helpless. From then on, Exeter were under heavy pressure and were lucky to escape several times before Harding blasted the equaliser from 20 yards. In the last minute of the first half, the referee awarded a penalty against Stacey for apparently pushing a clear with his band, but then changed his mind after con- sulting a linesman.

Stacey had earlier been booked after a foul on Darlington's Gauden.
