LEICESTER were forced to a replay after a thrilling Cup-tie at Filbert Street.
Third Division Exeter hustled and bustled and finally forced the equaliser after a tremendous ten minutes of the second half, which had the East Midlanders stumbling. Leicester went ahead after four minutes when Martin Henderson nodded in from a corner by Bobby Smith. That early blow knocked Exeter sideways and they struggled to regain their composure amid Intensive Leicester pressure. The game turned into a tough physical struggle and Leicester appealed for a penalty when Phil Roberts seemed to pull down Hender- son. It came through a defensive mistake from Tommy Williams which allowed the League's top scorer Tony Kellow to dart through and feed Pullar, who had no dif- ficulty in slipping the ball past Mark Wallington. After that. Exeter closed ranks, anxious not to give anything away. They even went to the extent of pulling eight men back to form a defensive wall when Leicester had a free kick Just outside their area. Leicester tried new blood in the form of Dave Buchanan, who came on for Melrose, but their efforts to gain a satis- factory result came to nothing
