But this display pinpointed the fact that besides the suspended Stan Bowles the Bees have other quality. players. New man Chris Kamara's (photo)!first half midfield performance was the finest I've seen in the third division all season. And defender Barry Tucker's calm, composed eft ficiency and tigersh ag gression was a firm pointer to Wales boss Mike Eng- land. The Welsh full-back should have received a World Cup squad call-up by now. Had it not been for the fact that he is playing third division football, the full- back would have earned a belated selection in the position in which the Welsh lack depth. Kamara, who also shone in the opening half during the league win at Oxford seven days previously, was absolutely superb. He is a player who really wants to play. His presence was most felt when he switched from the left to the right side of mid-field. Kamara's vision, passing and fierce, accurate shooting abilities, plus his will to win, excited the fans and lifted the team. At 23, he could prove to be the bargain of the season and a better long-term prospect than Bowles who has only signed a one-year contract. Striker Keith Bowen netted the all important goals, his first in a first team match at Griffin Park during the first half.

The game was marred by the injury to Exeter goal- keeper Len Bond. The former Bees player who had to be stretchered off for the third time this season, the second against his old club, after a clash with Bees' Gary Johnson. Five stitches were inserted in a leg gash.
