Tynan is sent off

Newport's victory hopes ended in the 74th minute when striker Tommy Tynan was sent off following a bad tackle on Exeter centre-half John Delve. Exeter's John Sparrow and Newport's Keith Oakes were also booked.

Waddle opened the scoring for Newport in the 13th minute and Hatch replied for Exeter after 58 minutes.
