Biographical Text
Danny Keough played around seventy league games for Exeter City in the mid-1980s having joined the club from Manchester United. He later played semi-professionally before going into coaching.
Keough started his career at Manchester United where he spent five years playing junior and reserve team football, earning his first professional contract in February 1980, before moving on to Exeter City in October 1985.He made his Grecians debut against Hartlepool United in a 2-1 defeat at St James’ Park. A regular in the team for the rest of the season, Keough featured in a total of 32 league matches. The following season he only missed six matches, featuring in midfield for a City team that eventually ended in 14th place in the Fourth Division.
Released by Exeter, Keough signed non contract forms for Bury then playing semi-professional football for a number of different clubs, which led him to coaching and eventually managing. Keough was assistant manager at Mossley during 1998-99. He also coached the Manchester United under 16s squad and was still on the staff at Old Trafford in 2008-09. He teamed up to work with his former Manchester United team mate and one-time Exeter City player, Ben Worrall in a sports equipment business in Lymm, Cheshire.
