Darlington v Exeter
2nd March 1985

Exeter City's mini revival in playing fortunes was to come to an end when they made the long trip to the North East on 2nd March 1985. The Grecians had climbed from 22nd position to 16th following a five match unbeaten run, but they were to have no success at Darlington as they lost 2-1. The Grecians did manage to pull a goal back in the second half, when Kevin Todd put the ball in his own net. Darlington also included another player later to move on to Torquay United, striker Carl Airey, and defender Peter Johnson who had a short spell at St James Park.
