Match 36
5th March 1985
Swindon (a)
Swindon Town v Exeter City
5th March 1985
- And it was to Swindon that Manager Jim lley and his Exeter City team travelled in a fairly confident mood with only one defeat in the last seven matches. The Grecians included young full back Phil King in their team for only his second full match in the Football League. Also in the City team was midfielder Leigh Barnard on loan from Swindon Town! A poor crowd of 2,696 were present at the County Ground for the visit of Exeter, but they were no doubt cheered by the result, as mid- dle of the table Swindon won 2- 0. Both goals were scored by Colin Gordon. Swindon's David Cole was later to sign for Exeter City in 1991, but his stay at St James Park was a short one.
