Mansfield (a)

Greaves slams shaky Stags

DRAW specialists Mansfield Town were today slammed by manager lan Greaves,

Match Report By NICK LUCY

The Stags again threw away a half-time lead as Exeter City-holders of the worst away record in the division - snatched a point at Field Mill. Mansfield have now taken only four points from fifteen in the last five home matches, leaving Greaves frustrated and angry. He said: "They can cancel their shopping trips because they're going to be here for more training. The Mansfield boss is unhappy with the attitude of his players and has promised a shake-up if there isn't a dramatic change. "We have a promising crop of youngsters and I intend to bring them in. I have had enough with making excuses. Now is the time for action." Mansfield took the lead just before half time, only to be pinned back by the opposition through sloppy defending. Martin Ling shot Exeter into a sixth minute lead, but the Stags struck with two goals in as many minutes. Mark Kearney equalised when he hammered Neil Whatmore's header past former Forest 'keeper Lee Smelt and then Steve Whi- tworth slotted home the second League goal of his career from the pernalty spot. It seemed that Mansfield had survived the storm, but Exeter hit back imme- diately after half time through Ling, who capital- ised on a mistake by Whitworth.

Mansfield: Hitchcock, Whitworth, Logan, Garner, Foster, Calderwood, Lowery, Luke, Whatmore, Kearney, Woodhead.
