Crewe let 2 points slip

CREWE Alexandra created numerous chances against lowly Exeter, but could not find the killer touch in Saturday's goalless draw at Gresty Road, writes CHRIS STONE.

Luckless David Platt had ore header that found the net disallowed and hit the post with a low drive. Crewe had dominated much of the first period and their defence were rarely threatened, with Nigel Hart looking unbeatable. Platt shaved the bar with a free-kick midway through the second period and Dave Waller tested keeper Lee Smelt with an overhead kick late in the match. "A combination of luck ard bad finishing let us down." said Manager Dario Gradi. "I was quite pleased with the performance overall."
