Shots flew in at both ends in the openings few minutes of Wrexham's game at Exeter. Dave Gregory fired just wide from 25 yards for Wrexham and Jim McNichol sent two long- range efforts off target for the home side. Wrexham gave 17-year-old goalkeeper Mark Morris his League debut
THE West Country once again proved a profitable hunting ground for Wrexham as they earned three valuable points with a 1-0 win at Exeter — only their second victory in 13 games.
It was at Torquay last November that the Welsh side last tasted success. But Wrexham manager Dixie McNeill once a striker with Exeter, was not surprised his side came away with the spoils from this scrappy match.
"Over the last three games we have played well and a result has been due
to us. We did not perform well today, but we got what we came for, said McNeil after the game.
A tedious first half was enlivened only by what proved to be the winner, a 31st minute 20 yarder from striker Brian Mooney following a quick free kick.
The second half belonged to 17-year- old Wrexham keeper Mark Morris who on his debut pulled off four important saves which kept his side in the match.
