Match 45
22nd March 1986
Hartlepool (a)

Hartlepool 0 Exeter 0

ASK Hartlepool boss Billy Horner if his team's promo- tion chances have disappeared and he will insist they are still in there fighting But many of the club's fans disagree, and there was genuine anger on the ter- races as Pool stumbled to their sixth game without a win on Saturday. After his side took their haul to three points out of 18. Horner said "I can understand the frustration of the supporters. I feel exactly the same.

"We haven't done too well recently, but it's not all over yet. There is a long way to go. though I admit we are mak ing it hard for ourselves."

Exeter worked hard, but Pool should be burying teams with their calibre if they want to win promotion.

The visitors had only three chances all the game, and the nearest they came was when Pool defender Phil Chambers' mishit clearance was well saved by Eddie Blackburn.

Pool didn't create a hand- ful themselves, but they cer- tainly had more with Alan Little, Bob Newton. Brian Honour and Alan Shoulder. who hit the bar, all going close.
