Exeter City:- Shaw; Cooper, Viney; Carter, Taylor, Rowbotham; Batty, Massey, Edwards, O'Connell, Delve.

Brendon O'Connell, returning to the side after six week's absence through injury, snapped up a vital 50th minute goal which enabled Exeter City to collect a deserved point from their encounter with Hereford on the latter's ground. Exeter's elation was short-lived, however, for within two minutes Spooner scored Hereford's equaliser. Delve's departure from Hereford enabled that club to sign obtain Ian Bowyer, from Nottingham Forest, and the City, who have transferred Marker to Plymouth Argyle for a reported fee of £95,000, played Darren Rowbotham, who moved to St James's Park from the Argyle as part of the deal, in the midfield position of number six.

And Delve, Rowbotham, and Rose, the Hereford goalkeeper, were the three best players on the field in an evenly balanced game.
