Town hit six of the best

Shrewsbury 6 Exeter 1

WOEFUL Exeter were hit for six by rampant Shrews bury as both Ken O'Dougherty and Tony Kelly were sent off for the visitors. Former Albion striker Kevin Summerfield set up the Shrewsbury opener in the 10th minute. He twice waltzed the ball round Scott Danlels before laying it for Robert across Hopkins to sidefoot home. Exeter equalised 12 minutes later when Paul Gorman slid the ball into the path of Darren Rowbotham who rounded the keeper to net. Tony Henry scored with 35-yarder which keeper Paul Miller let slip through his grasp to put Town back in front in the 27th minute. Luck favoured Shrewsbury in the 39th when Hopkins appeared to lose control in the penalty box and fell down when tackled from behind by Daniels. The referee signalled a penalty and Henry converted. In the 75th minute Hopkins repayed Summerfield with a cross for his skipper to score Shrewsbury's fourth, Tommy Lynch got the fifth in the 78th minute and Lyne completed the scoring in the 82nd.
