MacKay blasts goals drought

Fulham 0-0 Exeter City

FULHAM boss Don MacKay must instill hunger for goals if they are to make an eleventh hour bid for Second Division football, writes Peter Meikle. Fulham have shown little mercy on their travels and have the best away record in the Third Division, yet still they struggle to score at home. "One goal in three home games is pathetic we have got to do better than that," was Mackay's verdict after Saturday's clash with Exeter. In a disappointing goalless draw the Cottagers had all the opportunities but no firepower. The last five minutes saw wave after wave of Fulham attacks fail to make chances. Sean Farrell had clear runs at goal in each half without success and was replaced shortly after his second miss. Exeter manager Alan Ball blamed a poor pitch and high winds. But conditions were fine and MacKay, to his credit, made no such lame excuses for a lack-lustre match.
