Ebery played for Exeter City in the Plymouth and District League before the club turned professional in 1908. Like several players of the time he was in the army and stationed locally. 

He made his debut, and scored, against Millbrook Rangers on 12 January 1907 during a season in which forty-two players featured in the team. Not appearing for the first team again, he served in the army with the 110th Battery Royal Artillery.
