BBC match report –
The Grecians extended their unbeaten league run to nine games with this win.
Gareth Sheldon put the home side ahead when he fired a Barry McConnell cross home, but Richard Follett's long-range strike quickly levelled the scoreline.
Glenn Cronin's text-book header put Exeter back in front and Sheldon's curling drive (66) looked to have put the result beyond doubt.
But Tamworth substitute Mark Cooper's volley made the hosts sweat to the end.
