Halifax ended Exeter's five-match unbeaten run with goals from Jake Sagare and Craig Midgley.

Sagare opened the scoring four minutes after coming on at half time when he fired a left-foot shot past Exeter keeper James Bittner.

Halifax keeper Mark Cartwright made a brilliant save to deny Barry McConnell as Exeter searched for an equaliser.

Craig Midgley made it 2-0 from the penalty spot after he had been fouled.
