Roy Essandoh dealt a blow to Exeter's play-off hopes with the only goal.

Sean Devine fired Alex Jeannin's cross over from close in before Fleet's Ben Abbey hit the woodwork and Lee Protheroe went close from 30 yards.

Essendoh coolly slotted home 30 seconds after the restart but Steve Flack should have levelled from a James Coppinger cross, only to head over.

Dean Moxey missed another good chance for the home side late on when he fired over from close range.
