Accrington Stanley (h)

Exeter City 3 Accrington Stanley 2.

Saturday 24 April 2004.

Exeter edged to victory over Accrington but just missed out on a play-off spot.

The Grecians went ahead early on when James Coppinger hammered home a free-kick but Stanley levelled when Andy Proctor converted Lutel James' pass.

Sean Canham headed in Gareth Sheldon's cross to put Exeter ahead again but they were pegged back when Steve Flitcroft drilled in a right-foot shot.

Steve Flack headed in another Sheldon centre late on but it was not enough to seal a top-five berth.
