A THREE-GOAL salvo ended Brighton's three-game losing run and pushed Exeter closer to the relegation zone.
Exeter had beaten Brighton in the AutoGlass Trophy at the Goldstone Ground only three days earlier, but they never looked capable of repeating that result. Albion, inspired by Kennedy, con- trolled the game for long periods and had enough chances to be well ahead by the interval. But they were squandered, the main culprit being midfielder Codner, who wasted two excellent chances. First, full-back Chapman drifted over a delightful cross but Codner, running in unmarked, missed his attempt to volley in. Then Walker centred only for Codner to head wide with the goal at his mercy. But they went ahead when Edwards put Nogan clear and the striker had all the time in the world to slot the ball past Exeter keeper Miller. Brighton struck twice more inside six minutes to clinch victory. Ken- nedy got the goal he deserved when he fired in Nogan's pass, before Walker burst through to beat Miller.
