Exeter City recover from an early setback to gain an excel- lent point in a 1-1 draw at in form AFC Bournemouth. the home side took a fourth minute lead through Paul Wood who nodded home following a flick on at the near post from a corner. It was all Bournemouth in the opening 20 minutes, but gradu- ally City began to take a grip on the game, and were rewarded by equalising in the 34th minute. Russell Coughlin started the move, which ended with Ronnie Jepson sweeping home a right wing cross for his thirteenth goal of the season. In the second period it was City who looked the more likely to score. Stuart Storer was unlucky to see a shot hit a post after a great run down the right, and Scott Daniels headed from Bournemouth's Steve Fletcher. The attendance at Dean Court was 5,065.

Sadly the match was marred at the start by a crowd disturbance involving a handful of 'idiots" who ran on to the pitch to incite home supporters. City boss Alan Ball rushed on to the pitch in an attempt to quell the situation but was met with a torrent of abuse. It was widely felt that the persons involved were not Exeter City fans, but had used the game purely as an excuse to cause trouble.

AFC Bournemouth: Vince Bartram, Adrian Pennock, Chris Leadbitter, Mark Morris, Alex Watson, Joe Parkinson, Mark O'Connor, Scott Mean, Steve Fletcher, Russell Beardsmore, (Sean O'Driscoll).

The City under 18 side run riot at the Cat and Fiddle against Bristol Rovers by scoring wight times without reply. In another superb footballing performance, Matthew Harris scores five goals, and trialist lan Ford nets three. The City youngsters are the team to watch for football and goals, as they top the Westcountry Television South West Counties Youth League.

The 'A' team also win in the Devon and Exeter Premier league at the Cat and Fiddle, by defeating Exmouth Amateurs 2-0 with goals from Andy Harris and Craig Taylor. they too top the league as they complete the double over the visitors.
