Exeter City earn a replay against Leyton Orient as they draw 1-1 at Brisbane Road in the second round of the F.A. Cup. A rare DannyBailey goal after 28 minutes give the Grecians the lead, but Orient equalise nine minutes later through Mark Cooper. The City play some of their best football of the season, particularly in the second half, but are unable to break the deadlock. Both Ronnie Jepson and Gary Worthington go close to scoring, but City have to be content with the replay.
The tie is watched by a crowd of 4,366.

Later that evening the draw for the third round of the F.A. Cup is made on BBC TV's Match of the Day programme, and Exeter City are paired with Aston Villa at St James Park, providing they win the replay.
- News breaks that Exeter City's leading goalscorer Ronnie Jepson may have played his last game for the club. Huddersfield Town are expected to sign the want away striker for a fee of £80 000.
