Exeter City lose 2-1 at fellow Second Division strugglers Barnet, although the winning goal is a controversial one, with claims for an offside decision to be given. The referee decides that the player concerned is not interfering with play. Mark Cooper fires Exeter into a 19th minute lead with a superbly struck free- kick, but Barnet hit back after the break with goals from Tony Dolby and Terry Gibson.
BARNET: Phillips, Mutchell, Wilson, Hoddle, Edwards, Alexander, Tomlinson (Cooper), Haag, Gibson (Lynch), Dolby, Scott.
EXETER CITY: Kenny Veysey, David Llewellyn, Toby Redwood, Mark Cooper, Jon Brown, Richard Pears, Stuart Storer, Russell Coughlin, Robbie Turner, Nicky Morgan (Scott Daniels), Mark Gavin.
- Exeter City plan a double swoop in the transfer market before Thursday's deadline day. Manager Terry Cooper invites Aston Villa midfielder Richard Crisp and Bristol Rovers striker David Mehew to play for the City reserves tomorrow evening against Hereford United, with a view to signing them both. 21 year old Crisp joined Villa in 1988, but has yet to force his way into the league side. He has however spent a loan spell at Scunthorpe United last season. Mehew has made well over 200 league appearances for Rovers, but more recently has been side- lined with a knee injury.
- Leaving Exeter City is transfer listed defender Chris White, who joins Yeovil Town of the G.M. Vauxhall Conference League on a free transfer.
