The Grecians slim hopes of avoiding relagtion are further weakened after
a 5-1 beating at Hull City. Mark Cooper gave Exeter the lead after just nine minutes, but Hull score through Atkinson and Dewhurst to go into an inter- val lead. In the second half they increase their tally with goals from Norton, Windass, and another from Atkinson. The one bright spot is the form of promising wing man Martin Phillips, as four of the City teenagers are drafted into the side.

EXETER CITY: Allen McKnight, Andy Llewellyn, Jason Minett, Mark Cooper, Jon Richardson, Danny Bailey (Anthony Thirlby), Stuart Storer, Russell Coughlin, Robbie Turner, David Mehew (Richard Pears), Martin Phillips.
