The Grecians lose 2-0 at Cardiff City, going down to a 21st minute goal from Mark Aizlewood and a 54th minute strike from Carl Dale. Jon Brown, out since the match at Home Park, makes a sur- prise return to the City side replacing Peter Whiston who aggravates his long term thigh injury. Manager Terry Cooper said; "We started well enough, but it was men against boys at times. I was pleased with the kids again tonight and I will persevere with them again at Port Vale next Saturday."

EXETER CITY: Allen McKnight, Andy Llewellyn, Jason Minett, Mark Cooper, Scott Daniels, Jon Brown, Stuart Storer, Danny Bailey (Martin Phillips), Robbie Turner, Richard Pears, Anthony Thirlby.

  • A fifth Exeter City trainee is offered a full professional contract for next season. Full back Gary Rice is set to sign a one year deal, following in the footsteps of Richard Pears, Martin Phillips, Jon Richardson and Anthony Thirlby. Also signing for the club next season is 15 year old goalkeeper Ross Bellotti who will join this Summer's intake of newly signed trainee's. South Devon based, Ross has attracted the attention of both Plymouth Argyle and Bolton Wanderers, but preferred to sign for Exeter City.
