QUALIFYING GROUP.

EXETER CITY 0

A.F.C. BOURNEMOUTH 2.

Any dreams of a trip to Wembley evaporated in the second half of this qualifying group match as Boumemouth scored twice in the space of seven minutes. The opening 45 minutes were quits an entertaining atar, although Peter Fox was the busiest of the two goalkeepers. He made some super saves again to help keep the scoreline goalless at the half- time interval. To be tair, City could have taken the lead by then, with Jon Richardson being desperately unlucky to see a header rebound off the underside of the crossbar to safety

The closest Bournemouth had come to opening their account was shortly before tall-time when Fox first of al tumed away a shot from Matt Holland and the same player followed up anty for the ball to be blocked on the line by Matt Hare

Richard Pears turned brillandy in the 64 minutes but his low drive was saved wall by Nel Moss. Within 5 minutes Bournemouth had taken the leed with an excellent volley from Jason Brissett. The same player made it 2-0 from the penaty spot seven minutes later when Mark Came was harshly adjudged to have committed a pushing offence.

Interested spectators at the game were former City boss, Alan Ball, and Bristol City manager Joe Jordan.
