Match 23
25 November 1995
Bury (a)
SATURDAY 25th NOVEMBER 1995.
Endsleigh League Division 3.
BURY 2
EXETER CITY 0.
The Grecians have never won at Bury and to be honest they never really looked breaking that unwanted record. Once again the lack of firepower was evident with only a couple of shots of any note throughout the entire 90 minutes. And for the first time this season the midfield were non-existent. Having said that, Exeter more than matched Bury when it came to the defensive capabilities. Noel Blake was once again dominant in an Exeter rearguard which looked very dependable, and having gone in at the half-time break with the score standing at 0-0, it was not inconceivable that if City could produce and take one chance then they might even go on and win the game. As it was, Bury clashed any hopes City may have harboured with two goals in two minutes. The first came from the on-loan David Johnson and then it was all over for City as Shakers skipper David Pugh made it 2-0 in his sides favour. It was no more than Bury had deserved as it was virtually one way traffic towards the City goal.
Trialist Leon Braithwaite showed one or two nice touches, but he lacked support as City's poor run without a victory continued, the last time three points came ther way being on 16th September.
