City made it three wins out of three as they scored a goal in each half to overcome the challenge of Cardiff City. They made a bright and breezy start with the pace of Braithwaite once again causing the visitors problems.

Richard Pears toe poked home a Mark Chamberlain cross on the near post to give City a 22nd minute lead. Carciff fought hard for an equaliser towards the end of the half and came very close to doing so, but for two great saves by Peter Fox and another effort cleared off the line by Noel Blake.

The goal that sealed the points came in the 55th minute from the penalty spot lan Rodgerson handled on the line and Mark Cooper stepped up to rifle home the spot kick.
