Match 46
6th April 1996
Lincoln C (a)
Saturday 6th April
Endsleigh Insurance League
Third Division
Lincoln City 0 Exeter City 1.
Lincoln team: Richardson, Holmes, Whitney, Minett, Johnson, Brown, Ainsworth, Barrett, Bos, Onwere, Alcide
Subs not used: Robertson. Fleming, Daley
City team: Peter Fox, Mark Chamberlain, Damen Hughes, Chris Myers. Noel Blake, Jon Richardson, Leon Brathwaite. Danny Bailey Richard Pears. John Sharpe, Mark Came
Subs not used: Adrian Foster, Gary Rice, Barry McConnell.
Scorer: Exeter Sharpe
Attendance: 2,273
A quality goal from John Sharpe, his first for the Grecians since joining from Manchester City, proved to be enough to ensure that the points went back to Exeter
In what was largely a scrappy game the best work was once again carried out by the Grecians defence, who looked very comfortable when under pressure The pace of Lean Braithwaite often stretched the Lincoln defence and he was inches away from adding to Sharpe's strike in the 61st minute, with a shot that was just too high
The winning goal came after 41 minutes when Sharpa picked the ball up on the halfway line, advanced, and from 20 yards sait a low shot into the net.
