BBC match report –
Mick Tait (photo) made the perfect start to his time as Darlington caretaker boss with victory at Exeter.
Tommy Taylor was sacked by the club this week, leaving assistant Tait in temporary charge, and he had his troops fired up at St James Park.
Captain Craig Liddle led by example as he headed home the opener from Ryan Valentine's free kick, and minutes later they doubled their lead when Matt Clarke drove home.
After the break, a corner from Ashley Nicholls found striker Barry Conlon at the far post, and he headed in Darlington's third.
And then at the death, Nicholls got his name on the scoresheet with a well-taken strike after good work from Simon Betts.
