BBC match report –

Macclesfield goalkeeper Steve Wilson (photo) made his second dreadful mistake in two games to hand 10-man Exeter a point in a crucial relegation clash.

The former Hull City man flapped at Sean Divine's speculative shot in the fourth minute of injury time, and the ball spilled out of his grasp and inched agonisingly over the line.

It turned out to be the last kick of the game, leaving the Exeter players just as stunned as their forlorn Macclesfield opponents.

Former Manchester United apprentice Danny Whitaker had given Macclesfield the lead in the 57th minute, scoring at the second attempt from eight yards out.

Exeter had Steve Flack sent off for flailing an arm at his marker Steve Macauley in the 87th minute, but thanks to Wilson's late clanger the ten men went on to earn a point.

Macclesfield: Wilson, Hitchen, Tinson, Macauley, Adams, Whitaker, Welch, Dunning, Ross, Lightbourne, Hardy. Subs: Martin, Tipton, Priest, Eaton, Nash.

Exeter: Miller, Virgo, Hiley, Whitbread, Pettefer, Walker, Cronin, Thomas, Roscoe, Flack, Devine. Subs: Fraser, McConnell, Coppinger, Partridge, Moor.
